"Mr President, on a point of order, I want to correct a misconception about the Irish Constitution which, it has been alleged, bans embryo research in Ireland. The Irish Constitution is in fact silent on the matter, as indeed is Irish law. The Irish Constitution does indeed ban abortion, but it provides for exceptions.
