"Mr President, Mr President-in-Office of the Council, the question I would like to ask you is this: I had occasion to speak to the mother of one of the prisoners and the wife of another. Both women had been denied permission to visit these men. The prisoners are allowed no contact with their families. I would ask you, is this not a violation of the Convention on Human Rights, in your opinion? Do you not feel that the European Union and the Council are currently applying double standards? I believe it is time to take up a clear position condemning this aspect of the policy of this United States administration."@en1
