"Mr President, Commissioner, the Commission’s advocacy of the maintenance of free competition in Europe is of course something to be welcomed. We are of course in favour of rigorous measures being taken to deal with cartel agreements, but control measures, whether at national or European level, must not be designed in such a way that free competition is hampered by red tape. This means that the Regulation that is to be enacted must end up increasing legal certainty, and must not reduce it. With this in mind, we will endorse the amendments that our fellow-Members have tabled."@en1
