Nevertheless, I cannot withhold my broad support for the proposals contained in the resolution tabled with a view to resolving this crisis. While I support the proposals, this does not mean that I support the Anglo-American war. Quite the opposite is the case! The proposals advocate giving the United Nations a significant and central role in ensuring that a democratic Iraq regains its independence at the earliest opportunity.
