"Mr President, Amendment No 41, upon which we are about to vote, contains a misunderstanding. It is not the fault of the staff; there is a misunderstanding in the translation, which, as it stands, means that the amendment makes no sense. The final part states: ‘deplores, in particular, the preparation by the EU and the United Kingdom of bilateral agreements with the United States, agreements which authorise the Member States to extradite persons condemned to death to the United States.. Therefore, in order to make sense, the amendment should read as follows: ‘extradite those citizens liable to be punished with the death penalty in the United States’."@en1
