"Because the European Parliament adopted Amendment No 17, urging the Member States to implement the conventions in full, and because Paragraph 3 was completely omitted from the report, we were prepared to vote in favour of the resolution in the final vote. We do not however agree with Paragraph 11 and Recital L.
We believe that the UN Conventions on Drugs form the basis for the entire EU drugs policy, and we want this basis to remain. We are not in favour of amending or rescinding any of the conventions, which are international treaties that operate well. We support a drugs policy based on preventive work, treatment and a policy of criminalisation and control."@en1
