".
I should like in particular to point out to the honourable Member that matters of a disciplinary nature relating to national armed forces, such as questions of sexual harassment, come under the jurisdiction and responsibility of the individual Member States.
I should like to draw your attention to the fact, however, that, since September last year, we have had Directive 2002/73 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the implementation of the principle of equal treatment for men and women as regards access to employment, vocational training and promotion, and working conditions. This directive introduces a definition of sexual harassment and stipulates that 'harassment and sexual harassment within the meaning of this Directive shall be deemed to be discrimination on the grounds of sex and therefore prohibited'. The Member States are called on to comply with this directive by 5 October 2005."@en1
