"Mr President, I read in the Conciliation Committee’s report that, after some ten hours of intensive negotiations, a compromise was reached in the early hours of 11 October. How, therefore, can we not compare Mr Karl-Heinz Florenz to the great sailor, Christopher Columbus, who, on the morning of 12 October, when the shout ‘Land ho, land ho!’ was raised, had, at last, discovered America? Mr Florenz achieved this result with a day to spare, with his ship full of waste electrical and electronic equipment, introducing, at last, the recycling of these materials too. Therefore, all praise and honour is due to the great Mr Florenz, and I voted for the Conciliation Committee’s report."@en1
