"Mr President, this report refers to a decision of Parliament on the rules for the participation of undertakings, research centres and universities in scientific research and how to disseminate it. I believe this document is very important – which is why I voted for it – but I must point out that I think it is even more important that the European Union should make an effort to keep the scientists themselves in Europe. Greater efforts and greater assistance, including financial assistance, should be set aside for those who have always excelled at discovering new ways to improve people’s lives throughout the world by devoting themselves to research. I believe that greater efforts in Europe by the European Union would be very rewarding, not only for today’s pensioners but also for those who will in future live happily in Europe."@en1
