"Mr President, Mr Lage’s report stipulates that we should continue to subsidise the workers of the remote islands of the European Union: the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands and the French departments of Guyana and Réunion.
I know that there are citizens of these remote islands listening to what I am saying now and watching our debate, for, as you know, Mr President, we have the good fortune to have a television channel which broadcasts the work of the European Parliament live throughout the world. I would therefore like to tell those people and others who are listening now that the Pensioners’ Party and I myself, Carlo Fatuzzo, are extremely happy that Europe is supporting the outermost regions in this way. The European Union is doing a very good thing."@en1
