"Mr President, I abstained from the vote on the Cunha report for a very specific reason: I could not vote for it because the report did not go far enough in the direction I was hoping for, which is towards cuts in subsidies and alternative policies. I did not vote against it either, because the direction it was going in was the right one. I hope that the intention in future will be to cut funding to this sector and to find alternatives for those that work in it, so that this money is not spent on a sector which, as scientific data show, seriously damages people’s health, and so that the end product should not receive public funding in future."@en1
