"Relief, rehabilitation and development: pensioners and the Pensioners’ Party are in favour. Indeed, they are so much in favour of this that I too, Mr Andria, was delayed in my plane journey to Strasbourg. Why is that? Because I had to stall hundreds of pensioners – doctors, lawyers, architects and engineers – who, having learned of this report, wanted to leave immediately for developing countries to offer their services to help them, free of charge, with no remuneration, in the hope that this document would support, encourage and assist those elderly people and pensioners who so wish to continue to be useful after their retirement in the many developing countries. It was very difficult to dissuade them and I hope that, next time, they will have reason to applaud the European Parliament because it accepts their help."@en1
