"I voted against the report by Mr Hugues Martin on relations between the European Union and the Arab Republic of Egypt, Madam President. Why did I vote against it? Because there are civil rights that are not respected enough in Egypt. They concern all Egyptian citizens, of course, and before we grant any money we should demand that the basic standards of protection of Egyptian citizens of any age – young people, workers or pensioners – be respected and check that they are."@en1
