"Madam President, I would like to thank you for your skilful and impartial management of the sittings. My remarks concern Mr Schleicher’s report on the financing of European political parties. It states that parties’ own funding amounts to just 25%, and, thus, 75% is from subsidies, which is why I did not think the support of companies was necessary. We have to accomplish things through being active and, furthermore, support must be obtained from members. For this reason I voted against donations by companies. In any case I think that the excessive use of money has started to distort elections, an excellent example of which is the Italian elections. It might distort elections in the future too, and for that reason a limit must be found to the use of money in elections."@en1
