The laws currently in force in Saudi Arabia discriminate against women. For instance, women are stoned for committing adultery and condemned to death for apostasy. More than 28 women having been executed since 1990. In its contempt for women, the State discriminates against them. They are subjected to gender apartheid, arbitrarily detained and imprisoned, and watched by the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, also known as the al-Mutawa’een.
In view of this situation, what measures does the Commission intend to propose with a view to improving the human rights situation for Saudi women?"@en1
