Madam President, I should be very pleased if the European Commission were given more money for its budget. In the eyes of Mr Fatuzzo, however, what should the Commission do with this extra money that I hope to see made available in 2002? I would like to see a new Directorate created, for the sole purpose of looking into and implementing ways of improving the living conditions of elderly people and pensioners throughout Europe and the States which will soon be joining the European Union.
