"The proposal to harmonise the rules of the Member States concerning company take-over bids was previously, in 1989, rejected as incompatible with the principle of subsidiarity. This is a judgment that I still regard as relevant and correct, which is why I have voted against the report in its entirety. From a purely objective point of view there are significant objections, for example to Amendment No 6, concerning Article 4.2. This proposes that only 30 per cent of the votes shall be sufficient to take control of a company. This number of votes in a company is too low. This view is shared by the Federation of Swedish Industries, which instead advocates 40 per cent of the votes."@en1
