"Mr President, I was very pleased to be able to vote for the report on the current status of Poland's application for membership of the European Union. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a greeting to the pensioners and elderly people of Poland, some of which belong to a Pensioners' Party which is similar to the Pensioners' Party which I represent in the European Union. I must emphasise the importance of Mr Gawronski's report. I feel that, out of all the States which have applied to join the Union, Poland is the one which most deserves our support and our commitment for, without Poland's crucial initiatives, Communism would not have ended and we would not be discussing this issue today."@en1
