lpv:translated text	"Mr President, here, at last, is a measure – fortunately not the only one – which is a credit to the European Union. I am totally in favour of this measure, for it is a precise declaration to the Commission that the burden of providing asylum for those who are forced to abandon their own territory, their home, family, friends and all they have in the world must be shared equally between all 15 Member States of the European Union. This is a completely new principle, a fact – and we hope that a directive will be produced to enshrine that principle – which makes of the European Union something tangible, something real. This is a decisive factor and it particularly influenced my decision to vote for the motion. Furthermore, I consider that it would be appropriate for the Commission to apply this decision retroactively and share the burden borne by those who accepted Kosovar refugees between the Member States of the European Union."@en1
