This directive also has some shortcomings, for there is insufficient focus on adaptation, teaching, refresher courses and the use of these new communications systems by pensioners and the elderly. I am not referring to pensioners and the elderly in general, but, in this case, I am referring to my mother. My mother lives in Rome. She is 85 years old, it is true, but I have not yet managed to persuade her to let me give her a mobile phone because she would not know how to use it. She would find it extremely useful and also a saving, but she will not be persuaded. I offered to teach her, but she refused. This means that the elderly are not able to benefit from progress."@en1
