"The experiences we have had of the Socrates action programme have been extremely good, especially with regard to the Erasmus student exchange scheme. There have been practical problems with arrangements for those taking up exchange study places that have been organised on an individual basis, problems that we have managed to avoid with the focused student exchange programmes.
We should be encouraging cooperation among the countries of the EU in every possible way in areas that are important for our citizens, by supporting them in their acquisition of the knowledge and information that promotes active citizenship and, what is more, employment. In my opinion, many European citizens derived immense benefit when Parliament and the Council adopted the conciliation solution."@en1
