This story came to light in 1997 and it would appear that the people involved have still not received their deserved punishment and that the Commission has still not initiated a thorough investigation, nor taken the contract away from the people who have it at the moment and who are responsible for the situation which has been created there. There is a series of irregularities in the granting of this contract, as well as irregularities in the operation of the nursery in question. The Commission knew that this was happening and has not resolved the problem, nor has it tried to resolve it, and the children, who are the most important concern, have not been sufficiently protected nor transferred to other people with suitable guarantees of care and attention. This is a deeply serious issue which, unfortunately, is appearing in the media far too frequently. Mr Prodi, what do you intend to do about it?"@en1
