"I voted in favour of this report, which has the overall aim of reducing tax avoidance and evasion. Sinn Féin have been very active in Europe on the issue of tax avoidance and closing the loopholes which permit multinationals to engage in widespread tax avoidance and evasion. From playing an active role on TAXE and now on the Panama Papers, Sinn Féin will continue to ensure that multinationals are obliged to pay the taxes which they owe.
This particular report approves the agreement that has been negotiated by the EU and Monaco on the automatic exchange of financial account information between EU Member States and Monaco relating to accounts of each other’s residents.
Automatic exchange of information will take place from 2018 on information collected since the start of next year.
Under the agreement, Monaco will apply measures equivalent to the EU’s on reporting the taxation of savings income, and come into line with the OECD’s 2014 standards. (There was a previous agreement on this in 2004 which Monaco is updating to current standards adopted in the EU in December 2014)."@en1
