"Economic and Monetary Union is a fundamentally bad idea because it places distinctive and different national economies in one straitjacket of economic policies. Completing economic and monetary union (as the title of this Motion for Resolution wishes) would therefore merely preserve the problems to be fixed by the inevitable break-up of the currency zone – better to make that break-up occur at a time of the zone’s own choosing rather than have it forced upon them by events. Accordingly UKIP voted against."@en1
