"The aim of the Schengen Agreement is to create a common European area without internal borders for the free movement of persons, goods, services and capital also required the introduction of various more stringent rules on cooperation with the police and judicial authorities. The architecture of the new system will increase security and, through the possibility of adding new data, will lead to more effective information gathering. I believe that by switching over from one system to the other cooperation between supervisory authorities in the Member States will be improved, freeing us from an intergovernmental approach, through common management of border controls. I hope that, in order to ensure data protection and safeguarding of the fundamental rights of individuals, the second generation Schengen Information System will enter into force at the earliest possible date. I therefore voted in favour."@en1
