"Mr President although there are a lot of interesting recommendations in this report, I must say that I and my Irish colleagues in the EPP abstained from the vote on the report and from the majority of this morning’s votes. The reason we did so was because Ireland is a neutral country, and usually and regularly when it comes to defence and military affairs, we abstain. That is all, there is nothing else involved.
As parting words – I did not get the chance this morning – I would like to commend Poland for the good job they did on the Presidency for the past six months, especially Prime Minister Donald Tusk for the fine speech he delivered to us this morning."@en1
