"Mr President, Commissioner, ladies and gentlemen, the Fruit Juice Directive is particularly important as its aim is not only to provide more detailed and more precise product information for consumers, thereby protecting their health, but also to guarantee the high quality of the specified products which are sold on the European common market.
The amendments to the directive will provide the necessary safety for consumers and result in the development of an ever-increasing number of products made according to healthier recipes and with a healthier content. These new rules will strengthen the innovations and competition in one of the most highly developed industries in the European Union – the food and drink industry.
