"In the vote on the aforementioned text, I voted in favour. As a member of the Committee on Development, it is natural for me to support a motion for a resolution that contains many positive points concerning EU aid, such as the passage concerning transparency within the extractive industries and the growing support for trade-related assistance. However, I would like to use this explanation of vote to express my opposition to the part of paragraph 12 that refers to the introduction of an international financial transaction tax. It is my firm conviction that the introduction of such a tax is not the right approach to take, as it would place a considerable barrier in the way of poor countries that would hinder their chances of development."@en1
