I am voting for this position, and I welcome the increase in commitment appropriations for the ‘Youth on the Move’ and ‘European Platform against Poverty and Social Exclusion’ flagship initiatives. I would point out that the crisis is far from over yet, and I oppose the real reduction of the ‘Employment and Social Affairs’ chapter and the ‘New Skills for New Jobs’ flagship initiative. I also agree with the rapporteur that there is a need for more efficient management of the European Social Fund (ESF). It is extremely important that the Member States use the resources available in the ESF to support projects targeting young people and their access to the labour market and education, as part of the response to the alarming level of youth unemployment and the incidents of social unrest in many countries."@en1
