"The main task of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) is to collect data on drugs and drug addiction in order to prepare and publish objective, reliable and comparable information at European level. The EMCDDA is, in practice, open to the participation of any third country that shares the interests of the EU. Croatia has asked to participate in it since 2005. It will now also be part of the European Information Network on Drugs and Drug Addiction.
As I see it, this report also illustrates the need for better information exchange between Member States and European agencies and, above all, for Croatia’s potential accession to be prepared in a calmer manner than the ‘major’ enlargement of 2004 and 2007, when the countries of Central and Eastern Europe joined the EU."@en1
