"Given that the average reduction in CO
emissions during the period 2002-2007 for light commercial vehicles was only 0.4-0.5% per year, and that EU targets for new light commercial vehicles are necessary to avoid fragmentation within the internal market, I am voting in favour of this proposal. However, it is important to note that light commercial vehicles cannot be compared with passenger cars, and that the proposal of 150 g of CO
/km is ambitious, but feasible.
I also agree with the possibility of manufacturers forming ‘pools’ of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, since this has been shown to reduce compliance costs for manufacturers and increase employment within a greener economy, in line with the Europe 2020 strategy. I also agree that this question should be addressed in several phases by 2011, and not only in 2014 as the Commission proposes."@en1
