"I welcome the motion for a resolution on the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Kampala, Uganda, as it contains very crucial and important points and requests regarding the ratification and the implementation of the ICC. Therefore, I voted in favour.
But I want to express my deep concerns about certain phrases in the resolution, which refer positively to the ‘Stockholm Programme’, the ‘EIDHR’ and to the European Union as a ‘Global Player’. In this matter, the ‘Stockholm Programme’ and the ‘EIDHR’ might have had a positive impact, but in many other areas, these two programmes/instruments are not used in a democratic and transparent manner. The European Union has indeed been acting as a ‘Global Player’ but, in my view, not at all in a positive way towards a more fair and solidary world order."@en1
