"I support this report and the need for a MEDIA 2007 programme to follow up on the MEDIA (1996-2000) and MEDIA Plus (2001-2006). The E.U. currently has a trade deficit with the U.S. of over USD 8 billion per year in the audiovisual sector. We have to intensify our efforts to make the European industry more competitive and better able to rival that of the U.S. industry."@en1
