Firstly, the Council, in its statement of 1 March, clearly highlighted its support for the creation of a provisional multinational force to be deployed in Haiti, thereby supporting the Council of the United Nations. Secondly, with regard to the possibility of using funds from the eighth EDF, the Union has made the normalisation of relations conditional upon compliance with the necessary conditions and measures laid down in the resolutions of the Organisation of American States and that is the direction we are continuing to work in. Meanwhile, in cooperation with CARICOM, we are prepared not only to provide the scheduled humanitarian aid funds, but also any additional sums which may be necessary."@en1
