"This report tackles the deep concern regarding human rights violations committed in third countries, including due to some EU corporations’ and business enterprises’ management decisions, as well as by individuals, non-state actors and states. The report reminds corporate actors of their responsibility to respect human rights throughout their global operations, regardless of where their users are located and independently of whether the host state meets its own human rights obligations. I support this report, as I believe that breaches of human rights by EU corporations, and others, in third countries are unacceptable and are contrary to the fundamental principles of the European Union. Furthermore, I would like to highlight the importance of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and their worldwide implementation and call on ‘companies, whether European or not, to carry out human rights due diligence’ as well as the allocation of sufficient resources for this purpose."@ro2
