"This report is about approving the mobilisation of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in Sweden, mainly in the regions of Stockholm and Östra Mellansverige. The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund is a legislative and budgetary instrument to provide additional support to workers suffering from the consequences of major structural changes in world trade patterns or of the global financial and economic crisis, and to assist their reintegration into the labour market. The application relates to 1 556 redundancies at the enterprise Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson in Sweden operating in the economic sector, during the period 11 September 2015 to 11 January 2016. The EGF funding of EUR 3 957 918 will contribute to the costs of a coordinated package of eligible personalised services, providing assistance for 918 targeted beneficiaries following redundancies in the NUTS level 2 regions of Stockholm (SE11), Östra Mellansverige (SE12), Sydsverige (SE22) and Västsverige (SE23), with the aim of providing assistance in integrating the affected persons into the labour market. The redundancies were caused by major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation. I support this report as I believe that the 1 556 redundancies at Ericsson are eligible to receive aid."@ro2
