"SMEs are the backbone of the European economy. Hence it is important to focus on fair competition, access to financing, an adequate regulatory environment, 21st century working skills and a good social dialogue in order to allow SMEs to create sustainable quality jobs. The report focuses on a very important question, namely, on which conditions would need to be met in order to better harness the job creation potential of SMEs. There are key challenges that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to increasing the competitiveness of the EU’s productive sector, such as: the reduction of regulatory and administrative burden; tax incentives; and the role of trade unions and social partners. I therefore endorse the report due to its focus on the potential of SMEs, 21st century skills, dual education and ongoing training to overcome skills shortages, access to finance and support for SMEs (including EU funding and programmes), corporate social responsibility as well as specific support for young entrepreneurs."@ro2
