"I believe this is a balanced and far-reaching report which calls for measures to defend public and private investments, alternative financing tools and special attention to SMEs run by women and minorities. It is imperative for the Commission to pay particular attention to the specificities of SMEs and ensure that cross-border activities in the field of retail financial services lead to better access to finance for SMEs.
It is especially important to emphasise that financial education for SMEs is not only key to increasing bank lending. It is also key to expanding the use and acceptance of capital market solutions as well as to encouraging women and young people to start and expand their businesses, allowing for a better assessment of costs, benefits and the associated risks. Encouraging women and young people is a very important aspect and one which has my strong support."@ro2
