"I support this report because it aims to simplify the lives of SMEs by allowing them to use a standard document – easy for anyone to fill without the help of banks or lawyers – to sell their securities. Helping cross-border investment and deepening the capital market is at the heart of the proposals. But, in order to create a real Capital Markets Union and to deepen EU capital markets, we have to move away from 28 different national regimes by creating the same rules for all companies in all Member States. With this report, we will be able to achieve or improve several important things for European citizens, such as: reduced legal costs and red tape; reduced fragmentation of practices across Member States and a move towards deeper integration of the capital markets in the EU; unlocked liquidity from institutional investors who are currently facing a low-interest-rate environment and sitting on capital; and harmonised investor protection rules across the different pieces of legislation."@ro2
