Cloning animals raises concerns and question among European citizens: up to 80% of them, out of ethical, moral and animal welfare considerations, do not support animal cloning. Scientific research does not take enough account of the ethical considerations and problems. Animal cloning is not only cruel treatment of animals; it could also pose a risk for future generations that we cannot predict today. I am in favour of banning all animal cloning, but especially animal cloning for agricultural purposes. It is our duty to guarantee fully not only animal welfare but also food security, and to avoid any harm to human health."@et1
