"I voted in favour of this report. I firmly believe that the EU and its Member States need to be stricter in monitoring how money is being transferred within the EU and to outside the EU. I welcome that the report foresees concrete measures in registering legal entities and their financial transactions that fall under this directive. The EU has to decisively stand against corruption and money laundering, especially in regard to money that is being laundered or used to finance unlawful and even terrorist activities. The current situation in Ukraine is a good example of how Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs and authorities can comfortably stock their money in the EU without being controlled or sanctioned sufficiently. The EU has to control movements and deposits of shady money. I hope the Member States will stick to the strict measures proposed, so that the EU can contribute to the fight against corruption and money laundering worldwide."@et1
