"The debate is closed. The vote will take place tomorrow. Before coming to the next report, I would like to take advantage of the fact that I am in the chair for the last time, and that this is in fact a report that involves my own committee, and, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take advantage of your presence to tell you how much I have enjoyed working with you over the last 10 years, and the last five years have been extraordinary. I wish especially to thank Commissioner Barrot, who has supported us with kindness – I should say with his kindly authority – and I am also especially grateful to the chairman of our committee, Mr Deprez, and to all my colleagues. I am not going to mention you all, but Mrs HennisPlasschaert is here, Mrs in’t Weld is here, Mrs Lambert is here, and Mr Busuttil, Mr Masip Hidalgo and Mrs Dührkop Dührkop are too; I would really like to thank you all and, well, to say goodbye. Perhaps I will have the chance to see you again. It is not I who will be in the chair this time. I think I will just take responsibility for the introduction and then Mr McMillan-Scott will take over. If you do not mind then... Thank you."@en1
