"Priekšsēdētāja kungs, Īrijas Republikas negatīvā balsojuma patiesais vēstījums ir tāds, ka plašas pārējo ES iedzīvotāju masas darītu to pašu, ja vien viņiem to ļautu. "Herr talman! Det egentliga budskapet från omröstningen i Republiken Irland, som blev ett ”nej”, är att breda lager av befolkningen i resten av EU skulle göra detsamma om de gavs möjlighet. Irland är inte naturligt EU-skeptiskt – långt därifrån. Det är det faktum att väljarna där förkastade Lissabonfördraget som skrämmer den politiska elit som möttes i Bryssel förra veckan. De vet att om de vågade låta sina folk ha sin talan skulle de också se ut som den olyckliga Brian Cowen. De har alltså, till sin skam, konspirerat för att rusa genom ratifikationen på annat håll, och sedan arrogant försöka kasta in irländarna i en andra folkomröstning.
