Sebbene molti paesi dell’Oceano indiano, ove i settori della pesca sono stati colpiti dal disastro dello si siano informati sulle possibilità di trasferimento delle navi, solo lo Sri Lanka ha presentato una richiesta formale riguardante il trasferimento di 120 imbarcazioni di lunghezza compresa tra i 9 e i 12 metri. La Commissione ha informato gli Stati membri della richiesta ricordando loro, in più occasioni, l’obbligo di riferire in merito al trasferimento di navi. Le règlement (CE) n° 485/2005 du Conseil auquel l’honorable parlementaire se réfère étend aux navires de pêche qui sont transférés vers les pays touchés par le tsunami au profit des communautés de pêcheurs concernées la possibilité de retirer, moyennant une aide publique, des navires de pêche de la flotte communautaire. Cette possibilité est accordée à titre exceptionnel, sous certaines conditions et uniquement pour une période limitée. Si plusieurs pays de l’océan Indien dont le secteur de la pêche a été affecté par la catastrophe du tsunami se sont enquis de la possibilité de transférer des navires, seul Sri Lanka a introduit une demande formelle de navires. Cette demande concernait 120 navires d’une longueur moyenne de 9 à 12 mètres. La Commission a informé les États membres de cette demande et leur a rappelé à plusieurs reprises l’obligation de lui communiquer les transferts de navires.
