Wij zullen de Oezbeekse autoriteiten onder druk blijven zetten om de noodzakelijke hervormingen door te voeren en een democratische samenleving te creëren. Wij zullen ook blijven aandringen op een internationaal onderzoek naar de recente gebeurtenissen en zullen president Karimov blijven vragen om zijn positie in heroverweging te nemen. Herr talman! Vi måste fortsätta att samtala med de uzbekiska myndigheterna för att kunna verka för reformer för de mänskliga rättigheterna och för demokrati. Kommissionen förblir också aktiv på det humanitära området. Vi håller nära kontakt med UNHCR för att få en bedömning av läget för dem som har flytt till gränstrakterna.
