First of all I would like to say that the question of the seat of the European Parliament is covered by Protocol No 8 on the establishment of the seats of the institutions, specific organisations and services of the European Communities such as Europol, and is annexed to the Treaty of Amsterdam. "First of all I would like to say that the question of the seat of the European Parliament is covered by Protocol No 8 on the establishment of the seats of the institutions, specific organisations and services of the European Communities such as Europol, and is annexed to the Treaty of Amsterdam. The question of the location of the institutions has had a very high priority and concerns a high level of decision-making, relating not only to the location of our institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg, but also to Luxembourg. This concerns a very high-level political decision. For the Commission the total cost of missions of officials to Strasbourg amounted to EUR 1.7 million in 2003. This includes all the costs of missions, including those of Commission officials and members of Commissioners' offices. So this is not a large amount of money. We do not have a very precise overview of all costs, but we know that for the European Parliament the costs are much higher. Allra först skulle jag vilja säga att frågan om Europaparlamentets säte behandlas i protokoll nr 8 om lokalisering av säten för Europeiska gemenskapernas institutioner och vissa av deras organ och enheter samt för Europol, ett protokoll som är en bilaga till Amsterdamfördraget. Frågan om institutionernas placering har haft mycket hög prioritet och gäller en hög nivå av beslutsfattande. Den avser inte bara våra institutioners placering i Bryssel och Strasbourg, utan även Luxemburg. Detta gäller ett politiskt beslut på mycket hög nivå. För kommissionen uppgick totalkostnaden för tjänstemännens tjänsteresor till Strasbourg 2003 till 1,7 miljoner euro. Här ingår alla kostnaderna i samband med tjänsteresor, även dem som är hänförliga till kommissionens tjänstemän och medlemmar av kommissionärernas kanslier.
