"Mevrouw de Voorzitter, beste collega's, bij gebrek aan tijd beperk ik mij tot de verhoudingen tussen Israël en de Palestijnen.
Wij zijn allen diep ontgoocheld over het mislukken van de onderhandelingen in Camp David. Wellicht was de tijd nog niet helemaal rijp voor een akkoord waardoor de kloof tussen beide partijen niet kon of in ieder geval niet voldoende kon worden gedicht. Onze hoop bestaat er echter in dat toch een nieuwe basis wordt gelegd om na een periode van inkeer en bezinning de draad van het vredesproces opnieuw op te nemen en aldus een nieuwe fase in te luiden.
Het komt er inderdaad nu op aan zo vlug mogelijk de onderhandelingen voort te zetten. De internationale gemeenschap moet daar uiteraard bij helpen, samen met de Arabische staten en de moslimgemeenschap.
Wat de Europese Unie betreft hopen wij dat zij met één stem sprekend een meer pro-actieve rol, en ik bedoel vooral een meer politieke pro-actieve rol zal spelen en aldus zal bijdragen tot het vredesproces. Zij is dit aan beide betrokken partijen en aan de internationale gemeenschap verschuldigd. Het is evident dat ondertussen beide partijen moeten afzien van elk eenzijdig optreden dat de verdere onderhandelingen zou kunnen schaden. Geen enkele vorm van geweld kan worden getolereerd. De onderhandelingen moeten worden voortgezet door middel van een open, directe en oprechte dialoog. Europa moet daar een belangrijke bijdrage toe leveren!"@nl2

Vi er alle meget skuffede over de mislykkede forhandlinger i Camp David. Måske var tiden ikke moden til sådan en aftale, hvorved afstanden mellem begge parter ikke eller i hvert fald ikke tilstrækkeligt kunne gøres mindre. Vi håber stadigvæk, at der efter en periode med selvransagelse og besindelse lægges et nyt grundlag for at fortsætte fredsprocessen og komme ind i en ny fase.
Det drejer sig nu om at fortsætte forhandlingerne så hurtigt som muligt. Det internationale samfund skal bistå heri, sammen med de arabiske stater og det muslimske samfund.
Med hensyn til EU håber vi, at det med én stemme spiller en mere proaktiv rolle, og jeg mener især en mere politisk pro-aktiv rolle og altså bidrager til fredsprocessen. Det skylder Unionen begge de involverede parter og det internationale samfund. Det er meget vigtigt, at begge parter i mellemtiden ser bort fra enhver ensidig handling, som kan skade de videre forhandlinger. Der tolereres ingen form for vold. Forhandlingerne skal fortsættes gennem en åben, direkte og ærlig dialog. Europa skal i høj grad medvirke hertil!"@da1
"Frau Präsidentin, verehrte Kolleginnen und Kollegen! Aus Zeitmangel möchte ich nur etwas zu dem Verhältnis zwischen Israel und den Palästinensern sagen.
Über das Scheitern der Verhandlungen in Camp David sind wir alle tief enttäuscht. Möglicherweise war die Zeit noch nicht ganz reif für ein Abkommen, so dass die Kluft zwischen beiden Parteien nicht oder jedenfalls nicht hinreichend überwunden werden konnte. Wir hoffen allerdings, dass eine neue Grundlage geschaffen wird, um nach einer Zeit der Einkehr und der Rückbesinnung den Friedensprozess wieder in Gang zu setzen und damit eine neue Phase einzuleiten.
Jetzt gilt es in der Tat, die Verhandlungen so schnell wie möglich fortzusetzen. Selbstverständlich muss die Völkergemeinschaft gemeinsam mit den arabischen Staaten und der Gemeinschaft der Moslems dabei behilflich sein.
Von der Europäischen Union erhoffen wir uns, dass sie mit einer Stimme spricht und eine aktivere Rolle – womit ich vor allem eine aktivere Rolle in politischer Hinsicht meine – spielen und mithin zum Friedensprozess beitragen wird. Dies ist sie beiden beteiligten Parteien sowie der internationalen Gemeinschaft schuldig. Selbstverständlich müssen sich währenddessen beide Seiten jeglicher einseitiger Aktionen enthalten, die den weiteren Verhandlungen abträglich sein könnten. Keine Form von Gewalt darf geduldet werden. Die Verhandlungen sind auf dem Wege eines offenen, direkten und aufrichtigen Dialogs fortzusetzen. Dazu muss Europa einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten!"@de7

Όλοι απογοητευτήκαμε βαθιά με την αποτυχία των διαπραγματεύσεων στο Camp David. Προφανώς, δεν είχε έλθει ακόμη η στιγμή για τη σύναψη συμφωνίας, με αποτέλεσμα να μη μπορέσει να γεφυρωθεί αρκετά το χάσμα μεταξύ των δύο πλευρών. Ωστόσο, τρέφουμε ελπίδες ότι θα δημιουργηθεί μια νέα βάση, έτσι ώστε, μετά από μια περίοδο περισυλλογής, να επαναληφθούν οι ειρηνευτικές διαπραγματεύσεις και να αρχίσει μια νέα φάση
Το ζητούμενο πλέον είναι να συνεχιστούν οι διαπραγματεύσεις το συντομότερο δυνατό. Βεβαίως, σ’ αυτό πρέπει να βοηθήσει και η διεθνής κοινότητα, μαζί με τις αραβικές χώρες και τη μουσουλμανική κοινότητα
Όσον αφορά στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, ελπίζουμε ότι θα συμβάλει στην ειρηνευτική διαδικασία ενεργώντας ομόφωνα και προνοητικά, κυρίως από πολιτική άποψη. Αυτό το οφείλει στις δύο πλευρές και στη διεθνή κοινότητα. Είναι προφανές ότι, στο μεσοδιάστημα, οι δύο ενδιαφερόμενες πλευρές πρέπει να αποφύγουν κάθε ενέργεια που θα μπορούσε να υπονομεύσει τη συνέχεια των διαπραγματεύσεων. Δεν μπορεί να γίνει ανεκτή καμία μορφή βίας. Οι διαπραγματεύσεις πρέπει να συνεχιστούν μέσω ενός ανοικτού, άμεσου και ειλικρινούς διαλόγου. Σ’ αυτό πρέπει να συμβάλει σημαντικά και η Ευρώπη!"@el8
"Madam President, for lack of time, I shall merely focus on the relations between Israel and the Palestinians.
We all very much regret that the Camp David negotiations came to nothing. This was most probably down to the fact that the time was not quite ripe for an agreement, as a result of which the gap between both parties could not be narrowed or could not be narrowed sufficiently at any rate. We live in the hope, however, that a new foundation will be laid after a period of contemplation and reflection, so that we can pick up the peace process once again and herald a new era.
Indeed, we now have to ensure that the negotiations are resumed as quickly as possible. Needless to say, the international community needs to lend a helping hand, together with the Arab States and the Muslim community.
As far as the European Union is concerned, we hope that it will speak with one voice and assume a more pro-active role – and I particularly refer to a more pro-active role in the political field – and will thus contribute to the peace process. The EU owes this much to both parties and to the international community. It is evident that, meanwhile, unilateral action from either side is to be discouraged, as this could well harm future negotiations. We cannot tolerate violence in any form. The negotiations must be resumed by means of an open, direct and genuine dialogue, and Europe has a major part to play in this!"@en3

Estamos todos profundamente desolados por el fracaso de las negociaciones de Camp David. Tal vez no fuera todavía el momento de llegar a un acuerdo por lo que no se ha podido superar, o al menos no de forma suficiente, el abismo que separa ambas partes. No obstante, tenemos la esperanza de que se llegue a un nuevo punto de partida para retomar el hilo del proceso de paz después de un periodo de introspección y de reflexión y que se inicie de esta forma una nueva fase.
Se trata ahora de retomar las negociaciones lo más rápidamente posible. Naturalmente, la comunidad internacional debe ayudar junto con los estados árabes y la comunidad musulmana.
En lo que respecta a la Unión Europea esperamos que desempeñe un papel más activo hablando con una sola voz, y quiero decir un papel político más activo para que de esta manera contribuya al proceso de paz. Se lo debe a las partes implicadas y a la comunidad internacional. Es evidente que las partes, mientras tanto, deben abstenerse de cualquier actuación unilateral que pueda perjudicar las futuras negociaciones y que no se debe tolerar ningún acto de violencia. "Arvoisa puhemies ja arvoisat kollegat, ajanpuutteen vuoksi käsittelen vain Israelin ja palestiinalaisten välisiä suhteita.
Me kaikki olemme syvästi pettyneitä Camp Davidin neuvottelujen epäonnistumisesta. Ehkä aika ei ollut vielä täysin kypsä sopimukseen, minkä vuoksi osapuolten välistä kuilua ei voitu poistaa, ei ainakaan riittävästi. Toiveemme perustuu kuitenkin siihen, että saadaan aikaan uusi perusta, jotta katumuksen ja pohdinnan kauden jälkeen rauhanprosessi pääsee taas käyntiin ja uusi vaihe alkaa.
Nyt on todellakin tärkeää jatkaa neuvotteluja mahdollisimman pikaisesti. Kansainvälisen yhteisön täytyy tietenkin auttaa siinä yhdessä arabimaiden ja muslimiyhteisön kanssa.
Yhteen ääneen puhuvan Euroopan unionin osalta me toivomme, että se ottaa entistä aktiivisemman – tarkoitan ennen kaikkea poliittisesti aktiivisemman – roolin ja vaikuttaa siten rauhanprosessiin. Euroopan unioni on tämän velkaa molemmille osapuolille ja kansainväliselle yhteisölle. On selvää, että samalla molempien osapuolten täytyy luopua kaikesta yksipuolisesta esiintymisestä, joka voisi haitata tulevia neuvotteluja. Mitään väkivallan muotoja ei voida hyväksyä. Neuvotteluja täytyy jatkaa avoimen, suoran ja vilpittömän vuoropuhelun muodossa. Euroopan täytyy vaikuttaa siihen merkittävästi!"@fi5

Nous sommes tous profondément déçus de l'échec des négociations de Camp David. Sans doute les temps n'étaient-ils pas encore tout à fait mûrs pour un accord et de ce fait, le fossé qui sépare les deux parties n'a pas pu être comblé ou en tout cas pas suffisamment. Toutefois, notre espoir réside dans le fait que de nouvelles bases soient jetées pour reprendre le fil du processus de paix, après une période de repentir et de réflexion, et marquer ainsi le début d'une nouvelle étape.
En effet, il importe maintenant de reprendre les négociations dès que possible. La communauté internationale doit y contribuer, bien sûr, avec les États arabes et la communauté musulmane.
Pour ce qui concerne l'Union européenne, nous espérons qu'elle s'exprimera d'une seule voix et jouera un rôle plus dynamique - j'entends par là surtout un rôle politique plus dynamique - et contribuera ainsi au processus de paix. Elle le doit aux deux parties concernées et à la communauté internationale. Il est évident que les deux parties doivent renoncer à toute action unilatérale qui pourrait nuire à la reprise des négociations. Aucune forme de violence ne peut être tolérée. Les négociations doivent se poursuivre par un dialogue ouvert, direct et franc. L'Europe doit y contribuer largement !"@fr6
"Signora Presidente, onorevoli colleghi, per mancanza di tempo mi limiterò a parlare delle relazioni fra Israele e i Palestinesi.
Siamo tutti profondamente delusi del fallimento dei negoziati a Camp David. Forse i tempi non erano ancora maturi per un accordo che colmasse del tutto o in misura sufficiente il fossato che divide le due parti. La nostra speranza è che comunque si riescano a gettare nuove basi per riprendere, dopo un periodo di raccoglimento e riflessione, il filo del processo di pace e aprire quindi una nuova fase.
Ora è vitale riprendere quanto prima i negoziati, naturalmente con l'aiuto della comunità internazionale e degli Stati arabi e della comunità musulmana.
Per quanto attiene all'Unione europea, speriamo che sappia intervenire a una sola voce per svolgere un ruolo più proattivo, e intendo soprattutto un ruolo politico più proattivo, e che contribuisca in tal modo al processo di pace. Lo deve alle due parti interessate e alla comunità internazionale. E' ormai evidente che ambo le parti devono rinunciare a qualsiasi azione unilaterale che potrebbe ulteriormente danneggiare la continuazione dei negoziati. Non possiamo tollerare alcuna forma di violenza. I negoziati devono andare avanti per mezzo di un dialogo aperto, diretto e onesto. L'Europa deve dare un importante contributo in tal senso!"@it9

Estamos todos profundamente desapontados com o fracasso das negociações de Camp David. Talvez o momento ainda não estivesse maduro para um acordo, motivo por que não foi possível fechar, ou, em todo o caso, fechar devidamente, o fosso existente entre ambas as partes. A nossa esperança, porém, reside em que se lance, realmente, uma nova base para, após um período de reflexão e deliberação, se retomar o fio do processo de paz e, desse modo, se inaugurar uma nova fase.
Neste momento, trata-se, de facto, de prosseguir as negociações, o mais rapidamente possível, para o que é evidente que, juntamente com os Estados árabes e a comunidade muçulmana, a comunidade internacional tem de dar a sua ajuda.
No que se refere à União Europeia, esperamos que, pronunciando-se unanimemente, desempenhe um papel mais pró-activo, um papel sobretudo mais politicamente pró-activo, quero eu dizer, e desse modo, contribua para o processo de paz, como é seu dever tanto para com ambas as partes envolvidas como para com a comunidade internacional. Vi är alla djupt besvikna över misslyckandet med förhandlingarna i Camp David. Möjligen var tiden ännu inte riktigt mogen för ett avtal, vilket gjorde att klyftan mellan de båda parterna inte eller åtminstone inte helt kunde fyllas igen. Vi hoppas emellertid att man har lagt en ny grund för att, efter en period av ånger och besinning, ta upp fredsprocessen på nytt och således påbörja en ny fas.
Nu gäller det mycket riktigt att så snart som möjligt fortsätta förhandlingarna. Det internationella samfundet måste naturligtvis hjälpa till med detta, tillsammans med arabländerna och den muslimska gemenskapen.
Vad beträffar Europeiska unionen, hoppas vi att den kommer att vara samstämmig och spela en mer proaktiv roll, och jag menar framför allt en mer proaktiv politisk roll, och sålunda bidra till fredsprocessen. Det är unionen skyldig de båda berörda parterna och den internationella gemenskapen.
